MISSION

The Ecological Agriculture Training and Cultural Center’s Mission is to train farmers, engage farmer families and create community around ecologically-based, socially just and economically sustainable agriculture.

OUR APPROACH

The EAT! Cultural Center is Southern California’s “Field to Face” school, and is a partnership between the City of Norco and Five Keys Schools and Programs. Our approach has always been wisdom-based, scientifically-informed and hands-on.

We believe the future of Southern California Agriculture is small in scale…not in impact. To ensure the success of small farms, we focus on the 7 Tenets of Small Farm Management Systems and teach the mastery of 9 Core agricultural knowledge areas.

ORIGINS

The Origins of the Ecological Agriculture Training Cultural Center and Farm are planted in the alluvial soil of Southern California and the deep agricultural heritage that thrived there for centuries. Our program took root and grew out of Wayside Farm School. Launched in 2014, Wayside Farm School was an In-Custody, Education-Based Farming Partnership operated by Five Keys Schools & Programs and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

NORCO RURAL FARMERS & ARTISANS MARKET THURSDAY NIGHTS FROM 5PM-8PM

The EAT! Center hosts a Rural Farmers & Artisans Market each Thursday night throughout the year. Originally launched as a culminating event for the Business Planning + Branding pieces of our Small Farm Apprenticeship Program, our weekly market has become a Cultural Growth Experience focused on Building Community, Empowering Small Businesses, and

Strengthening the Local Economy.

The family agriculture revival movement aka FARm!

The FARM! Movement is our way of engaging the entire Farm Family in the Culture of Agriculture. We offer seminars and workshops to everyone from the community. Many of those workshops focus on off-ground topics such as canning, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, branding and more.  Seasonal events & celebrations support the region’s small farm culture.
